The Sámi Museum in Karasjok was established in 1972 as the first Sámi cultural institution in Norway. The museum has over 5,000 objects in the collections. This is the largest museum collection representing Sámi cultural history in Norway. The museum consists of a main building with exhibitions and magazines as well as an open-air museum.
NOTICE:
Due to renovation work, there is no functioning WC for disabled people. Public WC in the museum is in the basement. This might cause insuperable difficulties for the old and disabled people. There is no elevator for public in the museum. We work to complete the renovation work as soon as possible.
Opening hours:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Outdoor museum is closed during winter season.

THE OUTDOOR MUSEUM

We offer digital guided tours at our Outdoor Museum. The digitally guided tours contain text, pictures, maps, audio, and video.
Our digital application, VAPPUS, is free for museum visitors and can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
VAPPUS is available in English, Norwegian, Finnish and Sámi.
