We have the retro-exhibition "Sámiid Mánát" now exhibited here in The Sami Museum in Karasjok the whole summer! The exhibition was produced back in 1979 and we have decided to show it again so our guests can have the oppertunity to see this unique exhibiton again which was made 46 years ago. Welcome!
The Exhibition “Sámiid Mánát – Sámi Children” was prodused by The Sámi Museum in Karasjok in 1979 for the younger generation who visited the Museum. The exhibiton was most likely set up in the “children’s room” ,which was located in the Museum basement. In the exhibition children could also play with various toys and drow on a blackboard. In the 1970’s the Museum gave priority to offer expositions for all the different public groups who visited the Museum.
The exhibition was produced by Mari Teigmo Eira (conservator) and Susanne Jannok Porsbo (secretary). The exhibition was built and set up by Jon Ole Andersen who was a museum janitor at that time. The Exhibition “Sámiid Mánát” was on display at the Museum first, and was later turned into a traveling exhibition.
SVD Museum invites everybody to come to see this unique exhibition which was made 46 years ago. We are showing the exhibition as it originally was, with the texts in North Sámi and Norwegian, and we have added translations into English.
Welcome!
