RETRO-exhibition «Sámiid Mánát» (1979)

We have the retro-exhibition "Sámiid Mánát" now exhibited here in The Sami Museum in Karasjok the whole summer! The exhibition was produced back in 1979 and we have decided to show it again so our guests can have the oppertunity to see this unique exhibiton again which was made 46 years ago. Welcome!

The Exhibition Sámiid Mánát was prodused by The Sami Museum in Karasjok in 1979 as an offer for the younger generation who visited the museum. The exhibiton was most likely set up in the “childrens room” which is located in the museum basement. Together with the exhibition you could also see different toys and blackboard children could draw on. In the 1970’s the museum was really focusing on having different offers for all the different groups who visited the museum.

The exhibition was produced by Mari Teigmo Eira (conservator) and Susanne Jannok Porsbo (secretary). The exhibition was built and set up by Jon Ole Andersen who was janitor at the time. The Exhibition “Sámiid Mánát” was shown at the museum and was later turned into an traveling exhibition.

SVD invites everybody to come see this unique exhibition which was made 46 years ago. We are showing the exhibition as it was originally in Northern-Sámi and Norwegian, and we have added translations into English.

Welcome!
