Jáhkoš Lásse duojit
Guovdageainnu gilišillju received Lars Jakobsen Hættas` duodji from the Norwegian Folk Museum and the National Museum in Copenhagen back in 2017. Now they have returned home, and we are opening a new part of our permanent exhibition.
The museum has also been loaned duodjis from the University Museum in Bergen and the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford.
Lars Jakobsen Hætta created miniature duodjis while he was in prison and the duodjis were used, among other things, as barter goods and gifts to high-ranking gentlemen. Hættas’ duodji were part of the development of the Cultural history museums in Norway in the 19th century. The museum directors exchanged the duodjis with other international museums in exchange for objects from other countries and indigenous peoples.
