New Exhibition
We welcome visitors to a new exhibition on rock art from Indre Sandvik / Ruoksesbákti – one of the most extensive sites of rock paintings in Northern Europe. The exhibition provides a unique insight into prehistoric traces left by people who lived in the area thousands of years ago, as well as into the work of documenting and understanding this cultural heritage.
The exhibition is based on archaeologist Jan Magne Gjerde’s documentation report from the site. Through photographs, processed material, and interpretation, visitors can explore both the motifs in the rock art and the methods used to make faint and nearly invisible figures visible.
The project has been supported through the grant scheme Selected Cultural Landscapes in Agriculture in the Goarahat and Sandvikhalvøya area.

Final Exhibition Before New Permanent Exhibition
This exhibition marks the conclusion of our current exhibition programme. After September 30, we will close to the public to begin work on a new permanent exhibition.
We look forward to welcoming visitors back with a new and updated exhibition in 2027 – but until then, we hope many will take the opportunity to visit and experience this exhibition.
