The Sámi Museum in Karasjok was established in 1972 as the first Sámi cultural institution in Norway. The museum has over 5,000 objects in the collections. This is the largest museum collection representing Sámi cultural history in Norway. The museum consists of a main building with exhibitions and magazines as well as an open-air museum.

Porsanger museum

Kokelv sea sámi museum consist of a genuine sea sámi farm, with a house, barn and outhouse, and has a view of the beach where we have a new big boathouse and one third of an old boathouse. This is where we keep our boat collection.

Kokelv sea Sámi museum

RiddoDuottarMuseat is responsible for the safekeeping and management of a vast Sami art collection, which consist of handicrafts and contemporary art (around 1600).

Artworks are regularly exhibited at the Sami Parliament building, and the Sami Museum, both in Karasjok. At times, exhibits are also to be seen at the Lakselv Art-Arena and at Guovdageainnu gilišillju/Kautokeino Museum, which mainly has old Sami farmstead buildings. Sami art is also regularly shown on tour mainly inland, but also abroad at collaborating art galleries.
